If x : y = 3: 4, find (3x + 4y): (5x + 6y).

Answer:

Put x = 3 y = 4

(3x+4y) : (5x+6y) = (3×3+4×4) : (5×3+6×4)

= (9+16) : (15+24)

= 25 : 39
