by multiplying 3 both sides eq (iii)

We get 3x+3y = 9 ....(iv)

now eq (iii) substrat from eq (ii)

we get

3x+3y - (3x+2y) =9-4

=3x+3y-3x-2y = 5

=y=5

then substitute the value of y in eq (i)

We get x+5 =3

= x= 3-5

= x = -2
