x+y=3

x²+y²=5

We know that: (x+y)² = x²+y²+2xy

putting the value in the above equation:

⇒ 3² = 5 + 2xy

⇒ 9 -5 = 2xy

⇒ 4/2 = xy

xy = 2

According to me,

It must be x²+y²=5 instead of x² +y=5
