Dear Friend ,

Hereby I present my well explained answer stepwise ,

We know that ,

(a+b)² = a²+2ab+b²...... Equation (1)

(a-b)² = a²-2ab+b²....... Equation (2)

Subtracting Equation (2) from Equation (1)

We obtain ,

(a+b)² - (a-b)² = 4ab...... (Formula)

Thus this equation would prove helpful for us

Now ,

x+y=√32

Squaring on both sides,

(x+y)²= 32

Also , (x-y)²= 20

Subtracting one from other we obtain using formula ,

(x+y)²-(x-y)²= 32-20

from formula,

4xy=12

xy=12/4 = 3

Therefore value of xy is 3

Hope my answer would have helped
