Given:(x+y) =5

⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀ (x+y) = -3

To find:

The value of x^2 - y^2

Solution:

We know that, (a+b)(a-b) = a^2 - b^2

By this we can write,

 x^2 - y^2 = (x+y)(x-y)

\purple\Rightarrow (5) (-3) ⠀⠀⠀[Given]]

\purple\Rightarrow -15

\therefore The value of x^2 - y^2 is 15.
