x - y = 5

x y = 14 and y = 14 /x

x = 5 + y

x = 5 + 14 /x

x^2 = 5x + 14

x^2 - 5x - 14 = 0

x^2 - 7x + 2x - 14 = 0

x ( x - 7 ) + 2( x - 7 ) = 0,

( x - 7 ) ( x + 2) = 0

x = 7, - 2

x = 7

Putting value of x,

x = 5 + y

7 - 5 = y

y = 2

x^2 - y^2 = ( 7) ^2 - ( 2 ) ^2

=> 49 - 4

=> 45

ANSWER : 45
