X + Y = 5. XY = 3. X^2 + Y^2??

ANSWER

Given the equations are x+y=5..(1) and x−y=3..(2).

Now adding (1) and (2) we get,

2x=8

or, x=4.

Again subtracting (2) from (1) we get,

2y=2

or, y=1.

So the solution is x=4,y=1.
