QUESTION:-

If x+ y = 5 and xy = 6, find the value of x²+y²

EXPLANATION:-

We know that:-

(x+y)²=x²+y²+2xy

Now in this question:-

(x+y)²=5²

x²+y²= ?

2xy=2(6)

So,

5²=x²+y²+2(6)

25=x²+y²+12

25-12=x²+y²

13=x²+y²

So the value of x²+y² is 13 .
