x+y=5-----(1)

x-y=7

-----------

2x=12

x=6

put x=6 in equation (1)

we, get

6+y=5

therefore y= -1

and xsq=(6)sq

=36

Answer:

X + y = 5. ( 1st equation)

X - y = 7 ( 2nd equation)

2x = 12

X = 12 / 2

X = 6

put the value of X in 2nd equation

X - y = 7

X = 6

6 - y = 7

-y = 7 - 6

-y = 1

y = -1

x2 - y2

(6) 2 - (-1)2

36 - 1

= 35
