$x - y = ....$

By using suitable identity like:-

$(x - y) ^{2} = (x + y) ^{2} - 4xy$

Now putting the values in equation.

We get,

$(x - y) ^{2} = {5}^{2} - 4 \times 4$

$(x - y) ^{2} = 25 - 16$

$(x - y) ^{2} = 9$

$(x - y) = \sqrt{9}$

$(x - y) = 3ans...$

hence value of (X - Y) = 3
