Answer :

➪ The value of x is 50 and y is 15.

Given :

  • x + y = 65
  • x - y = 35

 \:

To Find :

  • The value of x and y.

 \:

Solution :

⇒ \: \bf{x + y = 65 \: - - - - - - \: equation  \: no. \:  (i) }

⇒ \: \bf{x - y = 35 \: - - - - - - \: equation  \: no. \:  (ii) }

From equation no. (ii), we get

\leadsto\sf{x = 35 + y}

Substituting x = 35 + y in equation no. (i) :

\hookrightarrow \: \sf{x + y = 65}

\hookrightarrow \: \sf{35 + y + y = 65}

\hookrightarrow \: \sf{2y = 65 - 35}

\hookrightarrow \: \sf{y = \Large\frac{30}{2} }

\hookrightarrow \: \bf{y = 15}

Hence, y = 15.

Substituting y = 15 in equation no. (ii) :

\mapsto \: \sf{x - y = 35}

\mapsto \: \sf{x - 15 = 35}

\mapsto \: \sf{x = 35 + 15}

\mapsto \: \bf{x = 50}

Hence, x = 50.
