It is given that,

 =  > x + y = 8....(1)
And,

 =  > xy = 15.....(2)

We have to find value of ,

 =  >  {x}^{2}  +  {y}^{2}

We know that,

 =  >  {(x + y)}^{2}  =  {x}^{2}  +  {y}^{2}  + 2xy
So,

 =  >  {x}^{2}  +  {y}^{2}  =  {(x + y)}^{2}  - 2xy

By substituting value of equation (1)and (2),we get :-

 =  >  {x}^{2}  +  {y}^{2}  =  {(8)}^{2} - 2(15)

 =  >  {x}^{2}  +  {y}^{2}  = 64 - 30

Hence,

 =  >  {x}^{2} +  {y}^{2}   = 34
