Explanation:

BY ELIMINATION METHOD .

X + Y = 8 ...(1)

X Y = 4... (2)

...adding equation (1) and (2) to eliminate Y.

So, we get..

2X = 12

X = 6

...substituting the value of X in (1) , we get .

6 + y = 8

y = 2

since X = 6... and Y= 2 Answer

Answer: xy=12

Explanation:

x+y=8...........(i)

x-y=4...........(ii)

adding both the above equations, we get

2x = 12

x = 6

put the value of x in first equation we get,

y=8-6=2\

now x=6, y=2

so the value of xy,

the product of xy=6*2= 12 Answer.
