If x, y belongs to R, then which of the following rules is not a function

If we take x = 4 then

y = √4 -|4|

= +2 - 4 or -2 - 4

= -2 or -6

x = 4 is a element of domain & there is more than one image (-2 & -6) of x are present in the codomain

so by the definition of function y = √x –|x| is not a function.
