The answer is option (a) 4%

GIVEN

If X,Y is 20%,25% greater than Z.

TO FIND

then how much percentage is X smaller than Y?

SOLUTION

We can simply solve the above problem as follows;

Let the vale Z = 100

It is given;

X is 20% greater than Z

X = 100 + 20% of Z = 120 (I)

Now,

Y is 25% greater than Z

Y = 100 + 25%100

Y = 100 + 25

Y = 125 (II)

Difference between X and Y

Y - X = 125 - 120 = 5

Percentage value of X smaller than Y

= (5/125)×100

= 4%

Hence, The answer is 4%
