So, D=b^-4ac

Here, b=4, a=1, c=1

D= 4^-4(1)(1)

= 16-4

=12

To know whether it has a real root ,

then , D>0,

if D>0 , then it is a real root.

Therefore, 12>0 ,

so, it is a real root.
