Since x²+kx-3=(x-3)(x+1)

=>x²+kx-3=x(x+1)-3(x+1)

=>x²+kx-3=x²+x-3x-3

=>x²+kx-3=x²-2x-3

On Comparing both the sides we find that k= -2

=>k= -2.

Hope it is helpful.
