if x²+y²=14 and xy=5,find the value of (½x+½y)²​

Answer:

(½x+½y)² = (½x)²+2(½x)(½y)+(½y)²

= ¼x²+½xy+¼y²

= (x²+2xy+y²)/4

substitute x²+y²=14 ; xy=5

= (14+2×5)/4

= 24/4

= 6
