If y + (2p + 1)x + 3 = 0 and 8y-(2p - 1)x = 5 are mutually perpendicular, find the value
of p.​

-(2p+1)(2p-1)+3*1 = 0

- 4p^2 +1 +3 = 0

4p^2 = 4

p^2 = 1

p = ±1

This is shortcut method for two perpendicular lines where,

X1*X2+Y1*Y2= 0

Alternative method

Note: It can also be done by finding the slope of two lines m1, m2 separately and then multiplying the same = -1

ie m1*m2= -1
