SOLUTION

GIVEN

y = ax + b

TO DETERMINE

 \displaystyle \sf{ \frac{dy}{dx} \:  \:  \: at \: x = 2 }

EVALUATION

Here it is given that

y = ax + b

Differentiating both sides with respect to x we get

 \displaystyle \sf{ \frac{dy}{dx} = \frac{d}{dx} (ax) + \frac{d}{dx} (b) }

 \displaystyle \sf{  \implies \: \frac{dy}{dx} = a\frac{d}{dx} (x) + \frac{d}{dx} (b) }

 \displaystyle \sf{  \implies \: \frac{dy}{dx} = a }

Putting x = 2 we get

 \displaystyle \sf{  \implies \: \frac{dy}{dx} \bigg|_{x = 2}  = a }

Hence the required value = a
