If y is directly proportional to x and y = 10 when x = 2, f
(i) an equation connecting x and y,
(ii) the value of y when x = 10,
(iii) the value of x when y = 60.

And in part 2 we have to find the value of y when x = 8 so why we will multiply 3 by 8?
shouldn't we would be dividing it?

Answer:

i) y = 5x

ii)y = 50

iii)x = 12

Step-by-step explanation:

i) it is given that when y is 10 x is 2 and also they are directly proportional to each other.

therefore, y : x

i.e, 10 : 2

i.e, 5 : 1 :: y :x

therefore y=5x (equation no.1)

ii)from equation 1 we know that y=5x

now,putting x=10 in equation 1 :-

y = 5x

i.e, y = 5 (10) (because x=10)

therefore, y = 50

iii)putting the value of y in equation no.1 :-

y = 5x

i.e, 60 = 5x (because y=60)

i.e, 60/5 = x

therefore,. 12 = x
