Answer:

As given

y varies directly as x

So k = y/x

As given

y = 15

x = 9

So k = 15/9 = 5/3

Then

If x = 33

y /33 = 5/3

y = 55

I hope it helps you....

Given,

A variable y varies directly as another variable x.

The value of x is 9 when y = 15.

To find,

The value of y when x = 33.

Solution,

We can simply solve this mathematical problem using the following process:

According to the question;

The variable y varies directly from the variable x.

=> y = Kx, where k is a proportionality constant.

=> K = y/x = constant {Equation-1}

Now, according to the question;

y/x = (the new value of y)/(the new value of x) = constant

=> 15/9 = y/33

=> y = (15 x 33) / 9

=> y = 55

Hence, the value of y is equal to 55 when x equals 33.
