We have y = ( secx + tanx )

Now differentiate both sides with respect to x

Then dy/dx = d/dx (secx) + d/dx (tanx)

Or, dy/dx = secx . tanx + (secx)^2

Or , dy/dx = secx [ tanx + secx ]

Or, dy/dx = secx [ sinx/cosx + 1/cosx ]

Or, dy/dx = secx [ (sinx + 1 ) / cosx ]

Or, dy/dx = ( 1 + sinx )/ ( cosx ) ^2

Hope you understand.

Thank you
