With the help of Universal pH indicator paper even the strong acids and bases on dilution should show pH colour change. The colour change would be from red (strong acid) to brown, dark orange, light orange (diluted strong acid) similarly the colour change would be from violet (strong base) to indigo, lavender, blue, light blue (diluted strong base).

Details regarding universal pH indicators which would help you to understand better.

You can find the pH value with the help of universal indicator pH papers. The colour change in the universal indicator pH papers will help you to identify the pH of acid.

You can identify whether the acid is strong or not with its pH values.

Universal indicator contains a combination of indicators that shows a range of colours which indicate the pH of a solution. The pH scale runs from 0 (very strong acid) to 7(neutral), and to 14 (very strong alkali). The colours of Universal indicator are the same as a rainbow:-

Red - Orange - Yellow....Green.....Blue - Indigo - Violet

StrongAcid - WeakAcid...Neutral...WeakAlkali - StrongAlkali

So the universal indicator show how strong or weak an acid or alkali is along with its pH value. If the indicator paper shows red then the acids pH should be between 1 and 2 (strong acid).
