Step-by-step explanation:

let the numerator be x

and denominator be y

original fraction= x/y

condition 1:

(x+1)/(y-1)=1

=> x+1=y-1

=> x-y= -1-1

=> x-y= -2 --------------(1)

condition 2:

x/y+1= 1/2

=> 2x=y+1

=> 2x-y=1 --------------(2)

we have two equations.. now subtract both the equations by elimination mathod to eliminate y

x - y = -2

2x - y = 1

(-). (+). (-)

__________

-3x= -3

x = -3/-3

=> x =1

y= -(-2-x)

= -(-2-1)

= -(-3)

= 3

therefore fraction is x/y => 1/3
