We can make a solution of the salt and water. After that, we can use a litmus paper. If a blue litmus paper turns red it’s an acidic salt. If the red litmus paper turns blue it is a basic salt.

                                   OR

Table salt which is sodium chloride is no an acid or basic. But salt, as it is formed by the replacement of the H++ ion in hydrochloric acid by a sodium ion. If it is basic, the indicator will turn blue but it will turn green as salts. Usually neutral.
