Answer:

we commonly use this definition in biology

osmosis is a process by which it happens without any expenditure of energy .it involve the movement of molecules of higher concentration to lower concentration region until the concentration become equal on either side of membrane .

there are three type of osomis like

  • Isotonic - in it there is equal amount of solute on both inside and outside of cell .
  • hypertonic - in it there is higher amount of solute in outside then the inside of cell .
  • hypotonic - in it there is higher amount of solute present in inside as compared. to the outside .

we can also explains it in other word that we commonly use in chemistry

osomis is a process by which the molecules of the solvent pass from a solution of lower concentration to solution of higher concentration through a semi preamble membrane .
