She knew that Velu must be careful because they both were very near to Central jail

Explanation:

1)She was referring to the Central jail.

The girl knew that they need to be careful because policemen are more consious near surrounding areas of jail.If they would find Velu suspicious then they may arrest him.

2)She meant to warn Valu that he should not do something stupid so that he may not get caught by policemen and taken to jail.She knew that jail is not a good place to be.

She also said "Just don't get caught" and this also means the same as be careful.
