When salt is added to the bitter gourd to cook, the bitter gourd releases water, the process of releasing water is called Plasmolysis.

Plasmolysis is the process by which the regular dimension of the protoplasm gets reduced.

The cells of the bitter gourd release water to the environment.

The bitter gourd got shrunken due to a release of water.

Correct answer: Exosmosis

Exosmosis is the passage of fluid by the semipermeable membrane towards a solution of lower concentration. It is the movement of water out of the cell. Here when we are adding salt to the bitter gourd, the concentration of salt is higher so it will release water out of the cell.

Example:- When we put the raisin in a concentrated solution of salt, the water comes out from the raisin
