Question

If the side of a square is doubled, what is its perimeter?

Answer · 7 votes

As we know all side of square are in equal length, let say it : a. thus perimeter of original square would be : a+a+a+a(i.e sum of length of all four side)=4*a(or four times of a). Now ,lets turn to your question. If it’s side gets double; then all of it’s side would be double(since square has all side of equal length). then new length of side would be: a+a=2*a(or two times of original length) . then lets find out perimeter ,i.e sum of all four side as (2*a)+(2*a)+(2*a)+(2*a)=8*a(eight times of a). now change in Perimeter:(new perimeter )/(original perimeter)=(8*a)/(4*a)=2. Hence we can conclude that If the side of square is doubled ,its perimeter would also be doubled. you can easily understand the scenario by the picture given below:

Question

If the side of a square is doubled, then the area of the square

Answer · 10365 votes

remains same becomes double becomes triple becomes 4 times Answer: D Solution: Let the side of a square be a. Since the side of a square is doubled. `rArr`New side `=2a`. Area of the square `=(2a)^2=4a^2`. `therefore` Area of the square becomes 4 times . Hence, the correct option is (d).

Question

the side of a square is 10cm how many times will the new perimeter become if the side of the square is doubled

Answer · 37 votes

Answer:2 times will be the new perimeter to old one. Step-by-step explanation:Given : The side of a square is 10 cm.To find : How many times will the new perimeter become if the side of the square is doubled?Solution : The side of a square is a=10 cm.Perimeter of the square is P=4aP=4\times 10P=40If the side of the square is doubled.i.e. a=2a=20The new perimeter is P_n=4\times 20P_n=80We have to find how many times the new perimeter is i.e. Px=P_n 40x=80 x=\frac{80}{40} x=2Therefore, 2 times will be the new perimeter to old one.

Question

what happens to the area of a square of its side is a)halved b) doubled

Answer · 383 votes

heya!! what happens to the area of a square of its side is a) halved Answer - area = side x side So, if the side is halved, then - new area= side / 2 x side / 2 = side x side / 4 = area / 4Hence, the area becomes the quarter of what it was before.b) doubledArea = side × side ( x × x = x² ) So, if the side is doubled, then - new area= 2x × 2x = 4x²So, doubling the side length multiplies the area by 4.#hope it helps!!

Answer:

B. Double

Step-by-step explanation:

assume the length of one side of a square = 2

perimeter = 8

Now, doubling the side,

New side length = 4

perimeter = 16

Now 16 is twice 8 so it is increased double
