If you drop a ball from a height, it falls. As time passes its speed increase. If you throw a ball upwards, its

speed decreases till it reaches the highest point. If you throw the ball at an angle to the vertical, its

direction of motion changes. In all these cases, the velocity of ball changes i.e. the ball is accelerated.

Whenever an object moves near the surface of earth with no other object pushing or pulling it, it is

accelerated. This acceleration is caused due to force of gravity and is called acceleration due to gravity.

(i) What is the value of acceleration due to gravity?​
