If you find coliform bacteria in a sample of water collected from a river . What would you conclude. Give reasons for such kind of water pollution

INTRODUCTION:Coliform bacteria usually a gram negative bacteria present in the  alimentary canal or digestive tract of humans,animals etc

Example are Escherichia coli,which doesnot harm us but when expelled out through faeces  and leads to  water pollution through irrigation.

Causes of water pollution due to coliform bacteria are as follows

1.Poverty

2.open defecation

3.lack of awareness and facilities

4.All the activities carried at one water resource (river or lake)especially rural area eg;washing ,bathing , drinking, cleaning of animals etc

5.Suffer with numerous diseases like Urinary tract infection,Diarrhoea,Pyogenic infection,Septicaemia,etc

We conclude that the river water indicates it's contamination by disease causing micro-organisms.The     reason for such water pollution is that  coliform itself is harmless and it's presence in water indicates that other more harmful,intestinal bacteria might also be present in the water.
