answer 1) :- here athlete starts from one corner and reaches diagonally opposite corner.

therefore distance covered by an athlete

= 100 + 100 = 200m

= distance = 200 m.

displacement is equal to the length of

diagonal of square

= (100)²+ 100² = 100√2m

= magnitude of displacement = 100√2 m.

answer 2) :- Since the athlete came back to the same place from where they start running so

= displacement= 0

= distance and magnitude = 200×2 = 400
