Since, ABCD is a square.

Therefore ,

AB = BC = CD = DA  [∵ All sides are equal]

And  AC = √2 BC     [∵  Diagonal = √2(side)]

Now,  

ΔBCE ~ ΔACF

⇒ Area(ΔBCE)/Area(ΔACF) = BC²/AC²

⇒ Area(ΔBCE)/Area(ΔACF) = BC²/(√2BC)²

⇒ Area(ΔBCE)/Area(ΔACF) = 1/2

⇒ Area(ΔBCE) = 1/2.area(ΔACF)
