The method used by Mrs. Fitxgerald in Mrs. Pearson's body was the best. She refused to work, to be taken for granted and put to display an individuality. She did all of the following which Mrs. Pearson should have done from the start:

 

--act boldly

--make her stand about things crsytal clear

--make the children realise that they need to respect their parents

--put forth her wishes as an individual

--instill the idea of reciprocation in all the family members

*Another method to teach her family a lesson could have been to go on a vacation, leaving other family members languishing in her absence, realising her importance in their lives and feeling grateful for her efforts in the household work.
