If you know that the mass of the water bottle is 250g and the mass of the Alka-Seltzer is 3.5g, how much should the mass be when you combine them?

as the law of conservation of mass says that mass is neither created nor destroyed in chemical reactions.

So when we add masses of Water and Alka-seltzer,

250g+ 3.5g = 258.5g

WHEN WE COMBINE WE GET 285.5.g

As an Alka-Seltzer tablet dissolves in water, it liberates carbon dioxide. The carbon dioxide dissolves in the water and then comes out of solution as a gas. This carbon dioxide gas has mass, but since it is a gas it escapes from the container and diffuses into the atmosphere.so mass remain same as usual as mass is conserved during reaction

Total mass = mass of water+ mass of alka-shltzer

= 250g+3.5g

= 253.5g
