If you know the location of one point (like 3, 4) and the slope of the line the point is on, can you find the other points located on that same line? Explain and be specific how you would do so.
Answers
Given : location of one point (like 3, 4) and the slope of the line the point is on,
to find : whether we can find other points on the same line
Solution:
Let say Slope of the line = m
point it passes through x₁ , y₁
then Equation of the line
is y - y₁ = m(x - x₁)
now putting Either of x or y we cant get value of other y = x
putting in above Equation
and cen get any other point located on the line
x₁ , y₁ = ( 3 , 4)
m = 1
y - 4 = 1(x - 3)
=> y = x + 1
x y
-3 -2
-2 -1
-1 -0
0 1
1 2
2 3
Hence YES , we can get other points located on that same line
