Given :  A garland of 6,8 or 10 flowers from the flowers in the basket,

5 flowers are left each time.

To Find :  The least number of flowers present in the basket

Solution:

Let say Flowers are  N

N = 6A + 5

N = 8B + 5

N = 10C + 5

=> N - 5  = 6A = 8B = 10C

Hence N - 5  is LCM of  (6 , 8 and 10)

LCM  - Least common multiplier of given numbers is the least number which is perfectly divisible by given numbers.

LCM = product of each factor  of highest power

6 = 2 * 3

8 =  2 * 2 * 2

10 = 2 * 5

LCM = 2 * 2 * 2 * 3 * 5  =  120

N - 5 = 120

=> N = 125

least number of flowers present in the basket  is 125
