Given :-

Mean = 12

Numbers :- 12, 15, 9, x and 13

To find :-

Value of x = ?

Solution :-

As we know,

Mean = Sum of all observations / Total no. of observations

Now,

Sum of all observations = 12 + 15 + 9 + x + 13 = 49 + x

Total number of observations = 5

Putting values in the formula, we get

12 = (49 + x) / 5

49 + x = 12 × 5

49 + x = 60

x = 60 - 49

x = 11

Hence, the value of x is \textbf{11}.

Hii ☺ !!

Mean = Sum of observations/No of observations.

12 = ( 12 + 15 + 9 + X + 13 ) / 5

49 + X = 60

X = 60 - 49

X = 11
