Becoz By Gay Lussac's Law Temperature is directly proportional to Pressure

Therefore when we pump the air in tyres it increases pressure thus Temperature also increased.

If we pump air into cycle tyre,a slight warming effect is noticed at the valve stem, because -

• According to the, Gay-Lussac's theory the pressure of the gas is directly proportional to the temperature of the gas.

• Now,when we pump air in the cycle tyre, the air is compressed inside the small space of the tyre and the internal pressure is increased.

• And,this excessive pressure of the air produces some amount of heat energy which warms up the valve stem of the cycle.

• On the other hand, the valve stem has small internal diameter and when a large amount of air enters in the tyre by that small internal diameter space, the air molecules collide with the internal surface of the valve stem and produces some amount of heat energy.
