If you push a cart with a force of 60 N for 2m. How much work have you done ?

answer : 120 Joules

explanation : let a force of magnitude F is applied on a body due to this force, body moves s distance along the force. so the workdone on the body by  applied force is given by , W = F × s

  here I push a cart with a force of 60N for 2m.

so the applied force, F = 60 N

and distance due to this force, s = 2 m

hence, workdone by me on the cart , W = F × s = 60 N × 2m = 120 Nm

[ ∵ 1 Nm = 1 Joule ]

so, W = 120 Nm = 120 Joules

therefore the workdone on the cart by me is 120 Joules.
