The diagram shows the velocity against time graph for 3 the motion of a 2 body. What is its displacement in the first 5 s?

You can solve the problem by finding the area under the graph from 0 to 5 seconds. The graph is made of line segments then you can use rectangles and triangles to find this area.
Displacement = area of rectangle(from 0 to 3 sec) + triangle (from zero to 3 seconds) + triangle (from 3 to 4 sec) subtact triangle (from 4 to 5 sec)
s = tv + 1/2tV +1/2tv -1/2tv the last two triangles cancel since they have the same time interval and opposite velocities thus they represent the same distance covered in opposite directions.
s = tv + 1/2tV, the velocity of the triangle is the height of the triangle ( 4m/s - 2m/s)
s = 3s(2m/s) + 1/2*3s* 2m/s
s = 9 m ( I do not see a direction on the diagram or in the problem. Normally displacement has a direction with it since it’s a vector quantity therefore I would say s = 9m in the positive direction or s = +9m
