Step-by-step explanation:

So let the number be t.

Now, we're given that 1/2 is subtracted from the number.

The equation becomes

t -  \frac{1}{2}  =  \frac{2t - 1}{2}

Now, that is multiplied by 1/2.

 \frac{2t - 1}{2}  \times  \frac{1}{2}  =  \frac{2t - 1}{4}

And the result of the equation is 1/8 which goes something like this

 \frac{2t - 1}{4}  =  \frac{1}{8}  \\  \\ 16t - 8 = 4 \\  \\ 16t = 12 \\  \\ t =  \frac{3}{4}

(Cross multiplication is done above.)

Therefore, the number is 3/4.

I hope this is enough for the question.
