Let the no.be x from which v had to subtract 1/2 so according to question

(x-1/2)

Then again it's saying in question that multiply the result by 1/2

Now we don't know what's the result we have only equation so we'll multiply 1/2 with

(x-1/2)×1/2

Then again according to question it's said that answers will be 1/8 so

(x-1/2)×1/2=1/8

1/2x-1/4=1/8

2x-1/4=1/8

16x-8=4

4x-2=14

4x=14+2

4x=16

x=4

Hope ,this will help you
