let the number be x,

ATQ,

[x- \frac{1}{2}]  × \frac{1}{2} =  \frac{1}{8}

[ \frac{2x-1}{2}]   \frac{2}{8}

 \frac{2x-1}{2} =  \frac{1}{4}

Cross multiply,

4(2x-1) = 1*2

8x - 4 =2

8x = 2+4

8x = 6

x =6/8 =3/4

Now,

the number required here is 3/4

i hope this will help you

Answer:

3/4

Step-by-step explanation:

f you subtract 1/2 from a number and multiply the result by 1/2 you get 1/8. what is the number?

Let number be x

Since we are given subtract 1/2 from a number and multiply the result by 1/2 you get 1/8

[x- \frac{1}{2}]*\frac{1}{2} =  \frac{1}{8}

[ \frac{2x-1}{2}] =\frac{2}{8}

\frac{2x-1}{2} =  \frac{1}{4}

Cross multiply,

4(2x-1) = 1*2

8x - 4 =2

8x = 2+4

8x = 6

x =6/8 =3/4

Hence , the number required here is 3/4
