let the number be X
then ,

(X - 1/2)x 1/2= 1/8
⇒(2X - 1)/4  =  1/8
⇒2X - 1 = 4/8 = 1/2
⇒2X = 1+1/2= 3/2
⇒X = 3/2  x  1/2  =  3/4

hence the number is 3/4

\huge\tt{Answer}

The value of x = 3/4

Step-by-step explanation:

\sf = (x -  \frac{1}{2}  \times  \frac{1}{2}  =  \frac{1}{8} ) \\  \sf=  \frac{1}{2}  \times (x) - ( \frac{1}{2} ) \times ( \frac{1}{2} ) =  \frac{1}{8}  \\  \sf=  \frac{x}{2}  -  \frac{1}{4}  =  \frac{1}{8}  \\  \sf =  \frac{x}{2}  \frac{1}{8}  +  \frac{1}{4}    \\  \sf = \frac{x}{2}  =  \frac{1 + 2}{8}  \\  \sf =  \frac{x}{2}  =  \frac{3}{8}  \\   \sf = x =  \frac{3}{4}  \times 2 \\ = x =  \frac{3}{4}
