now multiplying the x - 1/2 with 1/2(equation 1) = 1/2(x-1/2) = 1/8

LHS = 1/2 X( x - 1/2)= 1/8

= 1/2 X (2x-1 / 2)= 1/8

= 2x -1 /4 = 1/8

= 2x - 1= 1/2

=2x= 1/2 +1

2x = 3/2

x= 3/4

therefore the number is 3/4
