A student added acetic acid in sodium hydrogen carbonate , he observes that CO2 gas is evolved . CO2 gas can be tested by passing it through lime water . Lime water will turn milky by the formation of CaCO3. The reaction is :
CH3COOH + NaHCO3 → CH3COONa + CO2 + H2O
