Answer:

The distributive property of multiplication states that a ( b + c ) = a b + a c . It's often used for equations when the terms within the parentheses can't be simplified because they contain one or more variables.

First of all, please know that "It is not a Formula". It is a property i.e. Distributive Property. And property is different from a Formula. Please keep this in mind.

Now Distributive Property says that:

✔️ a ( b + c ) = ab + ac

For example, Let a = 2, b = 1 and c = 3.

So, a ( b + c )

= 2( 1 + 3)

( By substituting the values)

= 2(4)

= 8

Now we can do the same by :

2( 1 + 3)

= 2(1) + 2(3)

= 2 + 6

= 8

\because Both answers are equal, we can say that :

a( b + c ) = ab + ac
