Answer:

I have a watched a lot of Discovery and Nat-geo documentaries while growing up, those things will finally come in handy.

I would wander around the island and make a mental note of the important things for survival-and-recreation, like places where I could find some fruits, vegetables, or other sources of vegetation suitable for eating; sources of fresh water, dry woods for fire, etc.

Would need to make a few tools for miscellaneous use and protection. Practice making fire.

Once am through with that then I'll start making myself comfortable, build a tree-house probably (I'd feel safer in that than a normal hut built on ground).

I am a little lazy at times, so probably won't do that for some time and go for a night-out or two before finally making it :D

On a second thought, since during the night time it would be more dangerous to go off-guard, I'll start sleeping during the day and spend the nights awake.

In the night, I'll spend my time strolling along the beach; feeling the cool breeze; sipping onto some coconut water (if coconut trees are there). Light up some fire to keep myself warm and safe.

Would collect some good pieces of wood charcoal and take up to sketching onto stones. I am good at sketching, so that would really be an interesting thing to do. I'll experiment with different media : stones, leaves, tree barks, etc.

I believe a setting like this would provide a good inspiration for writing. So, I would from time to time gather some leaves to pen down my experiences and thoughts.

When I start feeling bored/tired of the lifestyle, I'd start planning for an escape. But till then I'll surely have a lot of fun.

(These are some of the things that just popped up in my mind, might add something later.)

Answer: If i were alone in an island. I will do the following

1. Dig a hole that is about 3 feet both in depth and in width – deep enough to fit a bucket in it.

2. Put a container in the center of that hole.

3. Fill the edges and gaps surrounding the container with wet leaves.

4. Place a plastic sheet over the hole you dug and large rocks at the edges of the hole to keep the plastic sheet firm.

5. Now, put a medium-weight rock in the center of the plastic just above the container.

6. Condensation will take place underneath the plastic sheet when the sun heats the walls and water-drops will run directly to the center, which will fall into the container filling it with distilled water you can drink.

7. Construct a shelter.

The following steps will help you to construct this kind of shelter.

1. Get up to 20 pieces of long branches of a tree. Make sure that these branches are very thick.

2. Create a tripod structure by sticking three of the branches into the ground with the other ends meeting together at the top. Use something to tie or hold the top-ends together if you can.

3. Place the remaining branches around the tripod in a circular form while creating a free area for your entrance.

4. Look for the largest and biggest leaves and use them as cover for the entire structure.

5. Make a fire.
